Validating event c
Repository Item Class Repository Item Members Dev Express. Hi, I have a validating event on a textbox in which I want to prevent the user to leave the textbox without entering the right data. This will allow that control to gain focus without firing the Validating event on the text box that the user is leaving. You can read about all the gory details of Causes Validation and validating in this thread: (watch for line wrap on the URL) The bottom line is that Causes Validation will (with a few caveats) solve your problem by preventing your Validating event handler from being called (sort of... I would have though that the lines in the Entering handlers would have been sufficient. Doesn't it work to simply set Causes Validation to "false" on both text boxes and then set it to "true" for all other controls, and not manipulate it at all in the event handlers?like I said, read the other link), so you don't have to test for which control has focus in your Validating event handler. In theory this should cause the behaviour you describe: you can move freely between the text boxes, but trying to send focus to any other control will cause both text boxes' Validating events to fire (assuming that you've visited both). Setting the Causes Validation of the other textbox is not necessary for the logic between the two textboxes.Hi Everyone, In my form there is a "Validating" event on a textbox. Is there a way to not execute the "Validating" event when the user clicks on the "Cancel" button?
Each stakeholder will have 15 minutes to share their thoughts and high level approach for mitigating these challenges.I have some code that checks and makes sure that when the users enters in the field an integer from 1 - 10 has to be input.Although if the users takes focus of the field, the "bad" data (such as "fdgfdg") is still left in the field. So could some demonstrate how when focus is lost on the field, if the data is not valid, a default value will be entered instead e.g.5 if you are hand-rolling validation like you do here, all you need to do is to set the default value after you Message Box.
